BIO
Karo Zacharski was born in 1998 in Kielce, Poland. Since 2018, he has lived and worked in Warsaw.
In 2018–2023, he studied at Warsaw’s Academy of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Media Art, defending his bachelor’s diploma in 2021 under the supervision of Lukasz Kosela PhD at the Audiovisual Space Studio (former Studio of Spatial Forms and Planes), awarded with the Rector’s Distinction.
In 2023, he defended his master’s diploma under the supervision of Jakub Wroblewski PhD, Prof. ASP (3D and Virtual Occurrences Studio), with an Annex under Prof. Wlodzimierz Szymanski and mgr Dorota Kozieradzka (Alternative Imaging Studio).
STATEMENT
Karo uses mostly new media, such as sound, 3D, VR, and installation; he is open, however, to other means of expression. While designing his projects, he mostly creates a series of complementary components in order to engage as many of the spectators’ senses as possible.
Karo is a trans man and transhumanist. The topics of non-cis-hetero-normativity and hopeful speculations about the future of humanity receive much of his attention.
In his works, he focuses more on the emotions and the internal aspects of an individual’s functioning rather than on the surrounding reality that he treats with a massive dose of cynicism.
